The Anthropocene is the most recent epoch on the geologic time scale, which began in the mid-twentieth century when humans began heavily influencing Earth processes, which influences climate. Human-caused climate change (global warming) is causing water shortages, farmland loss, migration of organisms and ecosystems which will also require humans to migrate, ocean acidification, ocean oxygen depletion (hypoxia), sea level rise (causing more human displacement), major extinctions (namely coral communities, which also causes extinction of all organisms that rely on such communities), and most worrisome: positive feedback mechanisms!
