The National Police Chief emphasized that the authority to detain them now rests with the prosecutor's office after the National Police completed the second phase of the transfer. This statement was made by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in Jakarta, Tuesday (June 23, 2026). The National Police Chief emphasized that the entire series of investigations against the two suspects have been completed by the police. Previously, the National Police had carried out the second phase of the transfer to the prosecutor's office. This process included the handover of case files, evidence, and the suspects to the public prosecutor. According to him, all obligations of the National Police investigators in this case have been completed. He explained that the second phase is part of the administrative procedures in handling criminal cases. "What is clear is that the National Police have fulfilled our obligation to hand over the case to Phase 2," he said. "The Phase 2 handover relates to the administrative handover related to the investigation and the surrender of the suspect," he explained. Regarding the suspect's request for a suspension of detention, the National Police Chief emphasized that this is no longer within the National Police's authority. He stated that after the transfer, the authority to detain rests entirely with the Public Prosecutor. Therefore, decisions regarding detention or suspension are now within the prosecutor's jurisdiction.
