Camino de Santiago 2026. Camino de la Lana . Etapa 12. Ines - San Esteban de Gormaz

Today is a short, transitional stage, a prelude to what lies ahead. Short by necessity. Eleven kilometers, a leisurely stroll, with hardly any inclines or shade. Due to hostel scheduling issues, there's no other option. This Camino is like that, and thanks to people like Josexu, without whose support yesterday's stage would surely have become a true pilgrim marathon. It's a battle against a Goliath, difficult to overcome even with half a dozen slingshots. The highlight of the stage is crossing the medieval bridge at the entrance to San Esteban de Gormaz over the Duero River. The early arrival in the town allows for a visit and a stroll through the streets of this village steeped in ancient and modern history, where El Cid, the Castle, and the wineries, as well as its Romanesque monuments, will not leave visitors indifferent, often unaware of what such ancient walls hold. Tomorrow the long road returns, and of course, the adventure of once again traversing villages with hardly any life. Empty Spain unfolds before us like never before.
