Some Muslims claim that Surah At-Tawbah has 127 verses, but that two non-Quranic sentences were numbered 128 and 129 and added to the Quranic manuscripts. In response, some evidence is presented that these two sentences are Quranic verses. Chief among these is some older Quranic manuscripts that contain these two sentences. This video focuses on @AltayCemMERIC's attempt to demonstrate that Surah At-Tawbah 128/129 is a Quranic verse, based on the Sana'a manuscript, which he claims dates between 606 and 649, in his book Proof of Prophethood¹. Indeed, the claim in the book is repeated in the following Shorts Video², where, based on the carbon dating reportedly performed on the said manuscript, the following conclusion is made: "There is a 60% probability that this page was dated during the time of Muhammad, and a 5% probability that it was dated during the time of Abu Bakr..." However, we believe this argument is invalid for two fundamental reasons. 1) These two sentences are not present in the mentioned copy. 2) It is known for certain that the carbon dating tests performed on the Sana'a Mushaf do not reflect reality. Indeed, the fact that some pages of the Sana'a Mushaf were dated to before the Prophet's birth in tests conducted in three different laboratories, and that tests performed on the same page yielded very different results, indicates that the carbon dating method does not work correctly on these pages.
