Heritage Walk - Bombs and Bunny's
A 6.5 mile circular local lockdown walk, just outside the city of Nottingham is the quaint rural village of Ruddington, a place of significant history and interest - known for its past WW2 Bomb Factory and where the Luddite Movement began. We start in the village of Ruddington and then over to 50 steps bridge before following the Great Central Line, now a heritage rail route towards Loughborough. Onwards we head for another historical village that of Bunny, home to the Parkyn's family who once lived at Bunny Hall, a mansion that is up for sale for a cool £3.5 million if you are interested here's the link (I am happy to take 2% commission) https://search.savills.com/property-d... Passing the Almshouse and school with its interesting inscription above the door, after walking through bunny we head North briefly along the road and onto the footpath to Bradmore, an old farming community which once had 2 windmills either end of this small hamlet, one of which being a post mill. From Bradmore we cross the fields to Ruddington Country Park, created on the site of Royal Ordnance Factory where bombs were stored for WWII, after the war it became a vehicle depot for old military vehicles until it closed in 1985, walking through the country park we cross the rail lines once more passing the Great Central Line Museum and Heritage Centre before we return to the village passing the historical Knitters Museum and where the Luddite Movement began as we reach our starting point in Ruddington by St Peter's Church.
