Eine archäologische Zeitreise in die westfälische Jungsteinzeit: Die Großen Sloopsteene
An Archaeological Journey Back to the Westphalian Neolithic: The Great Sloopsteene In a forest near Osnabrück, large stones lie in a curious formation. More than 5,000 years ago, people gathered them here and shaped them into a structure: a megalithic tomb for generations and hundreds of individuals. It was an artful piece of architecture that shaped the landscape for centuries. Dr. Leo Klinke reports on how archaeology is researching it today using digital methods. A documentary by the Antiquities Commission for Westphalia and LWL Archaeology for Westphalia (2022). The series "An Archaeological Journey Back in Time" was created on the occasion of the project "The Archaeological Time Machine" for the 125th anniversary of the Antiquities Commission for Westphalia—a VR film presentation about three sites from three different periods and three regions in Westphalia-Lippe: the Neolithic megalithic tomb "The Great Sloopsteene," the Roman field camp at Haltern, and the Holsterburg. The VR films will be available in 2D format on this channel from approximately mid-September 2022.
