We walked through Tokamachi, a town in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, famous for its heavy snowfall. From the roadside station, we walked through an arcade to a local shrine. We gave up and turned back halfway up the hill to the shrine because there was too much snow on the ground. We walked through the arcade again to the front of the station. The nostalgic atmosphere of the shopping arcade made me feel at home as I walked. It seems that they are promoting the arts, and monuments were erected all over the town.
