Icons of Panagia - Episode 3: The Dormition
This series on the Icons of Panagia seeks to present the stories behind many of the icons of the Mother of God that are present throughout the Orthodox world. We will explore their histories, the miracles worked through these icons and how we can benefit spiritually from learning about and contemplating these icons. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of unique miracle-working icons of Panagia. This series won’t be able to cover all of them, but we’ll be focusing on the main types of icons of the Mother of Our Lord and some of the better-known icons. In the this episode, we explore the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos and use the icon of the feast to exemplify the different aspects of the very special day in the Orthodox calendar.
