Alaron TR563 Reel Tape Recorder Series – Ep. 2: Beginning Repairs
In Episode 1 of the series, we saw the unique design and cosmetics of this interesting 3-inch reel to reel tape recorder. We also made an estimate of the damage it has received over the years. In its current condition, the little tape recorder does not work. In this Episode 2, ClydeSight begins the delicate restoration work, starting with the unique speaker system, which may actually use a bit of "bass reflex" design to improve performance! This series is “ad lib”, meaning what you see is what ClydeSight experiences doing the project. You will also see how ClydeSight cleans up spilled battery "gunk" that comes from leaking batteries (it only requires a simple household kitchen item!) . You will also see what appears to be a better than average mechanical system – which helps explain the higher price of this machine. Is it a "classier" tape recorder because of the design? Hard to tell yet because, as you will see, the battery compartment is in dire need of repair. Enjoy. IMPORTANT!!!! Please give a Thumbs UP and leave a Comment on this video.
