Ikaria is one of the most distinctive Greek islands I’ve visited — relaxed, rugged, traditional, and not quite like anywhere else. In this Ikaria travel guide, I’ll share everything I learned from my time on the island, including how to get to Ikaria, where to stay, whether you need a car, the best places to visit, and who I think the island is best suited to. I stayed in Armenistis on the north coast and explored much of the island, including Seychelles Beach, Nas, Evdilos, Agios Kirykos, Therma, Raches, Theoktistis Monastery, and some of the quieter inland villages. Ikaria is often described as one of Greece’s most laid-back islands, and while that’s definitely part of its appeal, it’s also worth knowing that it isn’t the most polished or convenient holiday destination.
