These figs are candied and delicious eaten alone or wrapped with thin sliced bacon, broiled and served as an Hors D'oeuvres!!!! #amusttry#superdelicious RECIPE GLACE' FIGS 1 1/2 LB FIGS WASHED AND DRAINED 1ST DAY 2 CUPS WATER, 2/3 CUP SUGAR 1/2 CUP WHITE KARO COMBINE AND BRING TO A BOIL. ADD FRUIT. HEAT TO 180*. REMOVE FROM HEAT, COOL, COVER AND LET STAND AT ROOM TEMPERATURE FOR 18 TO 24 HOURS. 2ND DAY REMOVE FRUIT WITH SLOTTED SPOON AND ADD 1/4 CUP SUGAR TO SYRUP. BOIL AND REMOVE FROM HEAT. WITH METAL SPOON, SKIM OFF FOAM. ADD FRUIT TO STRUP AND HEAT AGAIN TO 180* REMOVE FROM HEAT, COOL, COVER AND LET STAND AT ROOM TEMPERATURE FOR 18 TO 24 HOURS. 3RD DAY SAME STEPS AS ABOVE BUT USE 2 CUPS SUGAR. 4TH DAY SAME STEPS AS ABOVE, BUT USE 1 CUP OF SUGAR. 5TH DAY REMOVE FRUIT; PUT IN COLANDER PAN AND RINSE WITH COLD WATER. DRY ON DRYING TRAYS UNTIL FRUIT IS LEATHERY AND HAS NO POCKETS OF MOISTURE. If using a dehydrator, use the fruit and vegetable setting, or 135*. Store in airtight container in fridge, or freezer.
