The AC-130J is a heavily armed, long-range attack variant of the C-130 Hercules fixed-wing transport aircraft. It is equipped with a wide range of ground attack weapons integrated with sensors, navigation, and fire control systems. Because its large wingspan and low operating altitude of approximately 7,000 feet (2,100 m) make it an easy target, its close air support missions are typically conducted at night.
