Cómo hacer una frenada de emergencia | Vídeo práctico / consejos | Autocasión

One of the maneuvers that can save us from an accident is emergency braking. Although it's simple, it's not something we usually practice, so it's not without its challenges. SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL! https://bit.ly/2OCYftY The first piece of advice is to find a safe place to practice it. This way, you can feel how the car reacts and the effect of the ABS on the brake pedal so you don't get caught off guard or scared the day you have to do it. Despite its simplicity, the reality is that emergency braking is so often performed poorly that manufacturers realized this, and since the late 1990s, the BAS system has been installed as standard in vehicles. This system amplifies braking when it detects an emergency maneuver and applies maximum pressure to the brakes, even if the driver doesn't. To properly perform emergency braking, we must fully depress both the clutch and brake pedals. Why should you depress the clutch during full emergency braking? Well, for two reasons: • Shortening the distance: By depressing the clutch, we prevent the automatic idle control system from trying to accelerate the engine while braking. • Preventing stalling: With the engine stalled, we lose control of the car. We no longer have power steering, and we won't be able to get out of the danger zone because the car is off. In the video, we let go of the steering wheel simply to better see our legs pressing both pedals fully. Obviously, we shouldn't let go of the steering wheel during an emergency maneuver. We must also be crystal clear that the shortest braking distance is always achieved in a straight line. If, in addition to braking, we also have to steer the car, the distance is significantly longer. This is because the tires must distribute their grip for two different tasks: stopping the vehicle and changing its trajectory, which makes braking less effective.
