¿Para qué sirve el DIFERENCIAL autoblocante?| Vídeo práctico / consejos | #Autocasión
You've probably heard or read that a certain car has a limited-slip differential, but you've been wondering what it is. In this video, rather than focusing on how it works, we explain what it's for and why some models have it. SUBSCRIBE TO OUR CHANNEL! https://bit.ly/2OCYftY The first thing to know is what a differential is and why it's necessary in a car. The differential is a mechanism attached to the drive axle of the car and allows both wheels on the same axle to rotate at different speeds when the vehicle isn't traveling in a straight line. In each turn, the inner wheel describes a circle with a smaller radius than the outer one, so the inner wheel must rotate less than the outer one. The differential allows this. The problem is that differentials have another, less than desirable, side effect: when one wheel loses grip, they send all the engine power to that wheel, leaving the other at a standstill. This means that when both wheels have different levels of grip, the car won't move properly. There are several situations in which the two wheels grip the asphalt differently. In a corner, the car's weight shifts to the outside, causing the inside wheel (which needs to turn the least) to have less grip. If we accelerate sharply, that wheel can begin to spin, and the differential will shift all the engine power to it, leaving the outside wheel without the power to continue moving forward. Another situation is, for example, when we start from a standstill on the shoulder and the right wheel is on the grass and the left wheel is on the asphalt. In a car with a conventional differential, if we accelerate sharply and the wheel with less grip spins, we would come to a complete stop with one wheel spinning and the other stationary. To avoid this negative effect, some sports cars are equipped with a limited-slip differential. These differentials allow a difference in steering between one wheel and the opposite wheel, but when that difference in steering is excessive, they begin to lock and transfer some of the engine's power to the non-slipping wheel, allowing the car to move forward. You can see its effect in this video. The advantages are improved traction and a faster car, but they require skill on the part of the driver, as the vehicle can become excessively understeering (in front-wheel drive) or oversteering (in rear-wheel drive). It is a recommended system, but requires a certain level of driver skill to prevent it from improving the vehicle's response rather than improving it. For this reason, and because it is an expensive device, it is not fitted as standard in all cars but is left as an option or reserved for sporty versions. 👉👉Read the full report here: https://www.autocasion.com/actualidad...
