Mirror Lake State Park Hike

Mirror Lake State Park There are over 19 miles of hiking trails at Mirror Lake State Park. Mirror Lake State Park is named for its centerpiece, a lake which often is so calm that not a ripple marks its surface. The lake reflects a wooded shoreline with cliffs up to 50 feet high, a swimming beach and wetlands that are home to a variety of wildlife. The park's 2,200 acres include several picnic areas, wooded campsites, summer rentals and a cabin for people with disabilities. Northwest trail (2.3 miles) (The one we intended initially.) This trail winds through both pines and hardwoods with lake views. The trail passes an old resort foundation. Steep hills and sharp turns make this the most challenging trail. RINGLING PASS (0.3 mile) and WILDWOOD PASS (0.6 mile) allow for shorter trips. Newport trail (1 mile) (The one we started on then reversed.) Named for an 1857 boomtown that sprang up a mile south of present-day Wisconsin Dells. The trail skirts the lake and winds through oak woods.
