Bahlil made this statement after a limited meeting with President Prabowo Subianto and PLN President Director Darmawan Prasojo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday (June 22, 2026). "We also discussed the continued stability of government services, PLN's services to the public, especially regarding electricity. And earlier, we also discussed three issues with the PLN President Director," he said. Bahlil said one of these issues is the gas-fired power plant (PLTG). "The first one concerns the gas-fired power plant," he said. Second, Bahlil said, is the need for high-calorie coal, a type of coal with a thermal energy value above 5,300 to more than 7,000 kcal/kg. There is a problem with the availability of medium-type high-calorie coal, which PLN requires for the blending process of power plant fuel. According to Bahlil, coal availability is actually sufficient. PLN's total annual coal consumption reaches 154 million tons. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has assigned companies to serve PLN around 180 to 190 million tons. "PLN has contracted 134 million tons. Actually, the contract with PLN and the business owners is 134 million for one year. It's only June now. That shouldn't be an issue," Bahlil said. Actually, Bahlil said, PLN needs medium-type high-calorie coal. The government, Bahlil said, has ensured that this need will be met. "It turns out that PLN's complaint, or request, was about medium-calorie blending. We've confirmed that there are no longer any problems, and the government has assisted PLN in ensuring its operation," he said. Third, Bahlil said, is the issue of maintenance. He has asked PLN to immediately carry out maintenance so that it can provide services to the public. "But more than that, we're asking PLN to immediately carry out maintenance so that it can truly provide certainty of service to the public," he said.
