You may have noticed we didn't mention the slots (aka fixed slats) that come with the Timber Evolution in our review. This is because we do not use them. We find that they make the wings more fragile in transport, reduce aileron effectiveness, and add unnecessary weight to an airplane that's already too heavy. At the RC scale, full span slots don't aid in flight at higher angles of attack the same way they would with a full-scale sized airplane. Reducing aircraft weight and/or adding camber to the wing is what is most effective for smaller RC aircraft that fly at a lower Reynolds number. Ultimately, *in our opinion*, we find that the Timber Evolution flies better without them after flying it the way we do. More info on slots: https://www.boldmethod.com/learn-to-f...
