Senate Floor Session: July 13, 2026

The Senate proceeds to Executive Session to resume consideration of the nomination of Matthew A. Schwartz, to be US Circuit Judge for the Second Circuit, post-cloture, voting on confirmation of the nomination of Arthur Roberts Jones, to be US District Judge for the Southern District of Texas. During these first couple hours of the week’s session, Chaplain Barry Black opened with a prayer for late Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC). President Pro Tempore Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), Minority Whip Richard Durbin (D-IL), and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) each paid tribute to Graham. Schumer then remarked on the nomination of Todd Blanche to be Attorney General and a potential government shutdown.
