In this self-experiment, we wanted to know: How far can you get with vending machine food in one of the world's most modern cities? What's tasty, what's disappointing – and what's just plain crazy? No supermarket, no restaurant, no delivery service – just food from machines, 24 hours a day. The whole thing wasn't just a food challenge, but also a journey through Japan's technologized everyday culture, through tiny alleys, colorful train stations, and hidden vending machine halls. Tokyo shows how far you can go with technology and convenience – and where it might be too much.
