Korg Poly-800: History, Sounds & a Full Hardware Jam

The Korg Poly-800 is one of the most affordable and underrated polyphonic synthesizers of the 1980's. In this video I take a closer look at its history, architecture, and sound, before demonstrating a selection of presets and programming techniques. The second half of the video focuses on a short composition written and performed using only the Poly-800. Each part is recorded separately and brought together in a split-screen performance to show how the synth can be layered into a full arrangement. Topics covered in this video: • A brief history of the Korg Poly-800 • How the synth is structured and programmed • Demonstrating factory presets and custom sounds • Layering multiple Poly-800 parts into a complete track • Performing live without a DAW or laptop This video is part of an ongoing series exploring hardware synthesizers, hands-on performance, and making electronic music without a computer. New videos every Sunday.
