📍 Treichville, Abidjan, Ivory Coast 🇨🇮 | Immersion in one of Abidjan's oldest neighborhoods Welcome to Treichville, one of the most historic districts of Abidjan, Ivory Coast. In this walk filmed in July, during the rainy season, the sky is overcast, and the atmosphere perfectly reflects an ordinary weekday in this iconic district. Our visit begins on Nanan Yamousso Avenue, where traffic is particularly heavy with frequent traffic jams. We then enter the historic district by taking Avenue 15, characterized by its narrower streets compared to those of newer districts like Cocody. Along the way, we discover a succession of small shops, numerous tailoring workshops, local boutiques, and storefronts that bear witness to the daily life of the neighborhood. The walk then takes us to Avenue 44, where the School Medical Center is located, before joining Avenue Ouezzin Coulibaly, one of Treichville's busiest commercial thoroughfares. Turning around, we see the Catholic Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, surrounded by several religious schools. We then return to Avenue Nanan Yamousso before continuing our exploration through the residential streets. Unlike Abidjan's modern districts, this historic part of Treichville is mainly composed of low-rise buildings, a legacy of the early urban development of Ivory Coast's economic capital. The streets are almost all paved, relatively narrow, and lined with numerous parked vehicles. The tour concludes on the famous Rue 12, renowned throughout Abidjan for its high concentration of stores specializing in household appliances and electronics. We then enter the historic neighborhoods via Avenue 15, where the streets are noticeably narrower than those found in newer parts of Abidjan such as Cocody.
