Luki, a resident at the scene, said the fire was first seen emerging from an alley at the very back of the residential area. Within a short time, the flames grew and spread to surrounding buildings. "It started in this alley, at the very end. Suddenly, it grew bigger, and then it was all gone. We're still putting it out," Luki said. He explained that the fire started in a back alley near his business. When the fire broke out, residents tried to secure what they could still salvage. Fortunately, some items were recovered before the fire could spread. Luki said he first noticed the fire shortly after Isha prayers, around 7:00 PM WIB. "It started after Isha prayers, around 7:00 PM," he said. Although firefighters arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire, the flames had already spread, making many buildings unsalvageable.
