Is This The End Of New Zealand’s West Coast?

Pancake Rocks, Karamea & The Heaphy Track | RTW S6 EP40 We continue our ride north along New Zealand’s legendary West Coast on our BMW R1300 GSA, leaving Hokitika behind and following some of the most remote coastal roads in the South Island. Along the way we stop at the famous Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki before continuing all the way to Karamea and the very end of the road at the Kōhaihai Campsite, gateway to the iconic Heaphy Track. What starts as a relaxed coastal ride slowly turns into one of those unforgettable New Zealand days where the scenery just keeps getting wilder the further you go. Rainforest, rugged coastline, empty roads, tiny settlements and huge Tasman Sea views make this one of the most beautiful rides we’ve experienced anywhere in the world. Eventually the road simply runs out, forcing us to turn around and head back south to Westport for the night. We’re Sean & Emily, currently riding around the world two-up on our BMW R1300 GSA “Storm”, documenting the journey across New Zealand, Australia, Asia and beyond. This channel follows real full-time overland motorcycle travel, from remote backroads and mountain passes to famous destinations and hidden corners most travellers miss.
