ER Doctor Says Speeding SUV Driver Was 'Stoic' & 'Dismissive' After Killing Boys In Crosswalk

A California emergency room physician who treated a speeding SUV driver and one of the boys she struck in a crosswalk testified in a deposition that the woman was "dismissive" and "annoyed" after the crash. Dr. David Matero treated 8-year old Jacob Iskander and Rebecca Grossman when they arrived at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks on Sept. 29, 2020. Jurors saw his deposition on Wednesday (April 29) in the civil trial over Nancy and Karim Iskander's wrongful death lawsuit against Grossman, her husband, Peter Grossman and her ex-boyfriend, Scott Erickson, who was speeding in a Mercedes-Benz SUV alongside Grossman. 06:26 "Did you treat a patient by the name of Rebecca Grossman?" But in cases like this, I think I pay more attention to it, because kind of are aware that there's a lot on the line here..." 22:07. "She was relatively dismissive from the beginning and seemed it just wouldn't say angry, but more annoyed at the whole process. When I asked her about her past medical history, if she has any medical problems, and she wouldn't answer this and told me to contact her husband, who is a physician, to find out." 23:19 "Did you at some point learn that Rebecca Grossman's husband was Peter Grossman?" "She did... her exact statement to me was when I asked her, what kind of medical problems do you have? "She did not and I looked at her exposed... the burns are, like I said, they're typically first degree burns but are going to be in exposed skin areas where the skin is open, and I need to look at these areas, and did not see any evidence of that." 43:44 "Is there anything that could have been done to save Jacob Iskander?" "I don't think so. I mean, no, absolutely not. Actually, that's - I don't think so is not a correct answer. Absolutely not. We continued the resuscitation because we're still finding out information on a patient. "When I was around her, no, but at the time when I was around her, no, she was actually the -- my biggest surprise was how stoic she was, and as I mentioned, kind of a dismissive demeanor with me."
