Actor Sadao Abe appeared on stage on October 13th in Tokyo to celebrate the release of his starring film, "Turn Up the Volume, Octopus! I Have No Idea What You're Singing!!" (directed by Satoshi Miki). When asked about the words that gave him the push he needed, in reference to the film's plot, Abe revealed, "I guess it meant I changed. When I was looking for a regular job, someone told me, 'There's a book called How to Write a Resignation Letter, so write it exactly like that.' Those words gave me the push I needed. Now I'm playing a leading role. It's surprising, isn't it?" Abe also said, "When I was in junior high, a classmate's mother told me, 'You'll be famous when you're about 30.' I never said I wanted to be an actor (laughs). That stuck with me." Also in attendance at the event were co-stars Riho Yoshioka, Yudai Chiba, Eri Fuse, Tetsuji Tanaka, and director Miki. Yoshioka looked pleased as she said, "We started filming the movie about a year ago. I play guitar and sing in the film, and I had been practicing for about six months before that. I've never taken such a long time to film a movie, so I have a lot of memories." The film is a comedy written by director Miki, who has worked on the drama series "Time Limit Police." Rock star Shin (Abe) possesses an incredible singing voice and boasts charismatic popularity, but in fact, his voice was created using an unconventional method called "vocal doping." Fuuka (Yoshioka), a street musician with an unusually soft voice, happens to find out about Shin's vocal doping. As Shin's voice nears its limit, he becomes anxious and scared, and the two find themselves pursued by a mysterious organization over his final singing voice.
