Law and Mental Health: Forensic Assessment of Substance Use Allegations in High-Conflict Family

Law and Mental Health: Forensic Assessment of Substance Use Allegations in High-Conflict Family Court Cases - William Frankenstein, Ph.D. I am a licensed psychologist in Red Bank, New Jersey, at the northern tip of the Jersey shore. My practice is a general clinical outpatient private practice, with a specialization in the varied and different roles mental health professionals occupy at the interface of family law and psychology. My graduate work and early career faculty service at the Center of Alcohol Studies at Rutgers The State University of New Jersey provided me with a solid grounding in clinical and scientific aspects of addiction studies. This knowledge base led me to develop and now share a multivariate assessment model to help litigants, lawyers and courts to more objectively assess the validity and relevance of substance use allegations to child protection and best interest’s cases. Learning Objectives: 1. Describe a multi-method model for assessing substance use allegations that emerge in high-conflict family court cases and translating case data into findings, conclusions, and recommendations that will withstand examination. 2. Apply findings, conclusions, and recommendations derived from forensic substance use allegations for maximum relevance to litigant-parent, counsel, mediators and courts. 3. Assess monitoring plans that facilitate objectivity regarding the substance use allegations, minimize subjectivity, and decrease the sense that monitoring is used to punish or harass subject parents. Please note: CEUs, CEs, and CMEs, as well as Certificates of Completion are not available from viewing recordings. In order to be eligible for credit, trainings and presentations must be attended live. Copyright Notice All Rights Reserved.
