A fascinating lecture on Augustine of Hippo—one of history's most brilliant and influential thinkers—and his historical, cultural, and political context: the Late Roman Empire, from the emperors descended from Constantine the Great, from Julian the Apostate, up to Theodosius, also called the Great, and the division of the Empire under Arcadius and Honorius. All of these cities are key to understanding his later and exceptional intellectual output. And we continue with his journey to Rome and Milan, the two great imperial capitals of Rome at that time. Professor Fernando Simón Yarza, a scholar and expert on the figure of Augustine of Hippo, brings us closer to all of this.
