Mit dem Wohnmobil zur Trauminsel Sardinien - letzter Teil - kein Platz mehr auf der Fähre?
Hello and warm welcome to the last part of our Sardinia trip in September and October 2021. After leaving the Orri campsite, we set off to visit the fishing village of Posada. Afterwards, we drove to Budoni, where we could camp and enjoy new bathing pleasures. The question remains whether the scooter was working again. More on that later... So, let's go... The town of Posada is visible from afar. One might call it picturesque. The town originated with an extensive fortification built on the top of the mountain. The fort was first mentioned in writing in the 14th century, but is probably much older. The fort bears the curious name "Broad Bean Castle" (Spurbohnenburg) – this title dates back to a siege by the Saracens around the year 1300: The Saracens had besieged the fortress for weeks and starved the Sardinians trapped there. The Saracens devised a ruse. They fed the last of their provisions to a pigeon, slightly injuring it, and then released it. It didn't get far and landed in the Saracen camp. The besiegers concluded that the besieged had an abundance of food, so they continued feeding pigeons – and abandoned the siege. A frontal assault on the fortress, with its impregnable location, was hardly possible with the means available at the time. This legendary story is still alive today and is preserved on the city's foundation walls and large pictograms. The next destination is Budoni. There's a dog beach here where you can camp. On the way there, we drive through a mountain range, of which there are many in Sardinia. Fortunately, the roads in Sardinia are mostly good, so even a challenging route is easily manageable. The dog beach in Budoni is a bit difficult to reach, but we managed it. We've been here several times and know the rules. Standing is tolerated during the off-season. The site is still free. Camping behavior, meaning the use of awnings, tables, and chairs, etc., is strictly prohibited. We've experienced several inspections in recent years. Sometimes without consequences, sometimes painfully expensive. We've always taken our chairs and other equipment to a nearby beach. No one has ever objected. To ensure that camping here remains possible, these rules should be respected. Of course, there's no electricity or water supply or waste disposal, as it's essentially just a parking lot. In the background, you can see Posada. The phenomenal bathing experiences are always welcome. Another visit from unknown mythical creatures. So much adventure makes us hungry, so we're baking another camping bread in the Omnia. We got the recipe from the YouTubers in the one-room apartment. We've already prepared the mixes at home. So we only have to mix the dough. It doesn't need to be kneaded. The result is a wonderfully fresh bread treat. The day is drawing to a close, and new goals are on the horizon. Hiding won't help. We still have two days until the ferry, so we visit the parking space in Rena Majore. Here, too, you can camp freely. Checks are in place. Parking without camping behavior is tolerated, even at night. The site can also be found through camper contact. It's right on the beach with a beautiful view. There are no utilities, no waste disposal, no electricity, or water. Our camera took a break here, as did our scooter, so we have to share a few photos from previous visits. They say the most beautiful sunsets are here. Yes, and then came the inevitable part of the trip – saying goodbye. We booked another night ferry, and around 7 p.m. we took our starting positions. Things got tense again when we tried to reverse into the last spot reserved for campers on the ferry. The front of our vehicle was too far over the all-important line. If you're not positioned correctly, the hatch won't close. With a casual wave of dismissal, the attendant showed us that it wouldn't work that way. The result was a whole row of people getting into position, involving various vehicles. But finally, the boat closed, and we were able to set sail. In our cabin, the next round of washing up was quickly played out. My luck wasn't on my side, and by the end of the holiday, instead of having calluses on my hands after all these adventures, I was left with soggy hands. The ferry spit us out punctually the next morning and released us into the dawn of Livorno. On the way back, we stopped by Lake Garda, where we met up with friends. Lazise is a nice stop. We spent one more night at the La Querzia campsite before finally heading home. We spent our last night in Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
