Honda Monkey 125 | Between Fields and Curves 🌾 | A Quiet Monday in the Hills

The plan was simple: head south. Chase the sun. Because yes… it’s January. And it’s still pretty chilly. ❄️🐒 We roll out from Thiene, first ride of 2026, with cold, damp air and the Monkey looking way more comfortable than I am. Direction Malo, then Isola Vicentina, through open fields, quiet roads, and that low winter light that makes you think, “let’s go just a bit further.” Leaving the flatlands behind, we stop briefly to stretch our legs (and remind ourselves it’s still winter), then the road starts to climb. Up toward Toreselle, between houses, trees, and gentle curves, the kind that don’t rush you and make you breathe a little slower… with a shy twist of the throttle, just to warm up. At Ignago, stopping is unavoidable. The drone goes up, I stay still. A suspended moment, almost silent, with Costabissara below us and Vicenza a little farther away, as if everything was there just to be looked at a bit longer. Then it’s time to change rhythm. New music, new energy. The Monkey wakes up, and the curves start flowing faster, smooth, light, and ridiculously fun. Passing through Costabissara, the town where I was born. Just a quick hello — the sun is already going down — when suddenly… small heart attack. A car that doesn’t see me at all, and my life flashes before my eyes for about half a second. 😅🐒 Luckily, nothing serious: the ABS on my faithful Monkey does its job perfectly, and we’re back on the road. The light fades quickly, and the ride ends sooner than I’d like.
