Mt. Rogers Loop: Cabin Ridge, Grayson Highlands, Pine Mountain

A four night backpacking loop in the Mt. Rogers High Country. The trip started at Elk Garden Trail Head and followed the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail and then the Cabin Ridge Trail up to Cabin Ridge and camped. The next day we continued on the Cabin Ridge Trail and then took the VHHT to Grayson Highlands State Park, where we connected with the Appalachian Trail and followed it to the Big Wilson Creek Trail, then descended down to the Kabel Trail. We then followed the Kabel Trail a short distance and camped along Little Wilson Creek. On day three we continued a short distance on the Kabel Tail and then bushwhacked up to First Peak Trail. We then hiked First Peak Trail northwest and descended to Scales, where we followed the AT to Pine Mountain Trail. After hiking a short distance we camped along the Pine Mountain Trail. The fourth day we continued on the Pine Mountain Trail to Rhododendron Gap, where we took the Crest Trail down to Cabin Ridge. The we camped on the north west side of Cabin Ridge. On our final day we hiked the VHHT to Brier Ridge and crossed the bald up to the AT. Then we followed the AT back to Elk Garden. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy the video.
