Moroni Demands Answers
The war had dragged on for years, and out on the front lines Captain Moroni was watching his men starve and freeze and die. He had sent letter after letter to the capital begging for reinforcements and food, and nothing came. So he wrote one more, and it burned. He accused the chief judge Pahoran of sitting in a state of thoughtless stupor on his comfortable seat while the men who loved their country bled into the frozen ground. He wanted to know how anyone could rest in a great city while soldiers ate the leather off their own shoes. And he warned that if help did not come, he would leave the battlefield, march on the capital himself, and set things right by the sword. It is the angriest letter in the whole record, written by a desperate man who did not yet know the terrible reason no help had come. Do ye sit upon your thrones in a state of thoughtless stupor, while your enemies are spreading the work of death around you? Alma 60. #BookOfMormon #LDS #CaptainMoroni #ComeFollowMe #Scripture
