SYNAPSE WING BUILD - Method A: Build Then Cut

Here is the build option where the 9" Armin Wing is constructed first, then cut at the root and tip, and the spar is inserted through the lower wing former so that it exits the leading edge and traverses the wing roots at 1" forward of the trailing edge. This wing construction uses standard Experimental Airlines techniques. If you are not familiar you may wish to look at other videos on this channel before proceeding. Note that angle measurements may not exactly reconcile the stated sweep angle due to decimal rounding. Your measurements may also vary slightly due to construction technique but the overall design is forgiving of variations. The spar channel coring procedure is best done with an aluminum arrow shaft or 1/4" tubing, but a taped-up carbon arrow will work. Carbon arrows are recommended for the actual spar as well, although a dowel would be acceptable. If you are considering a collapsible wing think about using a rigid spar channel insert such as a carbon arrow or aluminum arrow or thin plastic, inside which fits the actual spar made of carbon fiber or wood dowel can easily and reliably pass through, over and over. For occasional wing break downs the pure foamboard channel is OK, but I do recommend Method B for that application.
