Jobcenter greift durch: Arbeitspflicht für Arbeitslose? | Doku | exactly
#job #citizensallowance #work Home visits, increased sanctions, mandatory work: The Nordhausen Job Center in Thuringia is testing a controversial project for young citizens' allowance recipients. Increased pressure – is this a groundbreaking approach, or is the state going too far? 📍 Subscribe to MDR Investigativ now: / @mdrinvestigativ Since autumn 2025, the pilot project, which has garnered nationwide attention, has been running: Citizens' allowance recipients under 25 are required to perform community service. The principle is familiar from €1 jobs. What's new is the increasing pressure from job centers, employment agencies, and government offices. Those who are absent without excuse risk sanctions, reductions in their citizen's allowance, and in extreme cases, the complete withdrawal of benefits. Uniformed enforcement officers are present at the door for checks – a controversial practice for many. Is this still assistance or state coercion? The documentary "exactly" follows enforcement officers, social workers, and those affected by the program in their daily lives, navigating the demands of work, duty, and fear. The report explores the conflict: Is this model an effective tool against unemployment and joblessness, or a scandal involving unfair punishments for socially and already disadvantaged individuals? Proponents see it as a sign of greater responsibility and the state's unwavering commitment to enforcement. Critics warn of stigmatization, social dependency, and growing fear within society. The authorities are focusing on uncovering abuse and fraud through the vetting of benefit recipients. The municipality of Nordhausen aims to combat stagnation with increased monitoring, sanctions, and mandatory community service. However, the approach remains controversial: Does this pressure truly promote employment and jobs, or does it exacerbate conflict, social injustice, and a lack of solidarity? A look at the figures paints an ambivalent picture: Few participants find a job or stable employment, while sanctions and benefit reductions are on the rise. Twelve percent lose their entire citizen's allowance – fraud has been uncovered in these cases. For the authorities, it's a success in enforcing the rules; for critics, it's a sign of a lack of support, assistance, and justice within the system. A film by Knud Vetten. 👍 Did you enjoy the film?
