Sandra Hesse and Lars Gärtner accompany young people in the Nordhausen district of Thuringia who are suddenly confronted with a work obligation. In this video, we show what the implementation looks like in practice, what challenges await those affected, and what discussions the project has sparked. There are home visits by the municipal enforcement service, insights into a rural workshop where animals are fed, the grounds are maintained, and wood is processed, as well as personal stories from those affected, such as Sandro and Marcel Kieselbach. We also explain what sanctions are threatened if appointments are missed and how politicians are reacting to the project. The Nordhausen district launched the project to reduce youth unemployment and motivate recipients of citizen's income support to take more initiative.
