There are not many true hematologic emergencies, but there are several conditions that every clinician should be aware of. In this lecture we discuss tumor lysis syndrome, acute chest syndrome, thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), blast crisis/leukostasis/hyperviscosity syndrome, and cauda equina syndrome.
