MUSE - Hexagons (Backing Track MONO Mix)

*All instruments mixed "up front" in the stereo mix are pulled back, revealing quieter and sometimes hidden aspects and arrangements in music with lots of stereo mixing. You'll hear echoes of drums (especially stereo-mixed cymbals and toms) and guitar and lead vocals because a lot of the time, their effects and reverb, either organic or inorganic, bleeds into stereo (left and right channels).* Hexagons initially starts off as an echoey mess, then at 35 seconds, the synth arpeggios kick in and kind of ground it in its proper, whacky time signature. Once the 80s guitar buildup starts with the drums, you can hear a swooping [bass] effect. The acoustic guitar is extremely prominent in this stripped back mix and going into the chorus and 2nd verse, the arpeggiating (and rather wet sounding) synths drive the mix. In the 3rd chorus, the vocoded backing vocals can be heard a little clearer. I find it funny that the toms in this song (the drum fills in the guitar ballad parts) remind me of the St. Anger snare inside and outside of this mix when you can hear them.
