Core stability after 50 | Vision drills to improve core control | 15 mins
If your core feels “wobbly,” your balance feels less reliable, or you struggle to stay steady when your arms and legs move - this session is for you. Core stability isn’t just about stronger abs. It also depends on your reflexive stability systems - especially how your eyes and nervous system organise movement. In this class we use vision drills (smooth pursuits, saccades, and near–far focus jumps) to challenge the system that supports steadiness, then layer that into Pilates-style core control. This is a calm, structured session using an assess → drill → reassess approach, so you can feel the difference in control as you go. In this session you’ll do: Vision drills: smooth pursuits, saccades, near–far jumps Core stability patterns with control and coordination, including: roll down with feet together + arm moving out to the side while staying stable bird dog standing work that mimics side-lying strength patterns (without going to the floor) Equipment you’ll need: Light weights Two pens (or two small objects to focus on) Optional: yoga block, ankle weight How it should feel: focused and challenging, but not dizzy or nauseous. If the vision drills feel too strong, slow them down, reduce range, or take a pause. You should feel effort and control - not sharp pain. If you have significant dizziness/vertigo, recent concussion, neurological symptoms, or anything that concerns you, please get individual guidance before doing vision/vestibular drills.
