The intense rains from Storm Laurence, which is particularly affecting the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula, have caused numerous evacuations in Andalusia due to rising rivers and flooding. In Jarandilla de la Vera, a reservoir broke, causing a massive body of water to flow downstream, sweeping away everything in its path. The cause of the break is still being investigated, although it could be due to excess water in the infrastructure after days of continuous rain. In Gibraleón, Huelva, the Odiel River overflowed its banks, completely flooding the area, according to residents, after the Sancho Dam's floodgates were opened. Flooding has also affected Cáceres and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Cádiz, where the Los Hurones reservoir has been releasing water for over a week. For the time being, Málaga remains on orange alert, and five regions are on yellow alert for rain: Castile and León, Castile-La Mancha, Catalonia, Extremadura, and Madrid.
