Hanging On in the Wind! Flat Route, Big Gusts, Muddy Bikes | 40 mi Skive n Ride Tuesday Gravel Ride

A very windy Tuesday Skive and Ride with coastal gusts, flat miles, muddy lanes, Castleman Trailway, forest trails, and plenty of laughing to get through it. The plan was a gentle mostly-flat loop around the edge of BCP, what we got was brutal headwind along the seafront, Castleman to Ringwood, café stop, and back into a brutal headwind again down to Christchurch. Add in a few grumpy drivers, narrow lanes, potholes, vibrating brake pads, lost ride leader, and dodging school kids on bridges — it had everything. Julie came out completely on her own today (a big win!) and rode brilliantly even through the endless gusts and swirling crosswinds. Lots of banter and complaining about the wind and surging on group rides. A proper winter ride: windy, muddy, gritty drivetrains, noisy brakes, tired legs… and a hot chocolate promised at the finish.
