A 31-year-old car thief who stole cars advertised on the Divar website by implementing a deceptive scenario and using asthma spray was arrested in a Tehran intelligence police operation after several thefts; the defendant claims to have learned this theft method while in prison. According to an exclusive report by Rokna, a case of serial car thefts with a different technique is currently on the desk of detectives at the 6th Tehran Intelligence Police Station; the main defendant in the case is a 31-year-old man who says he spent 10 years of his life behind bars since the age of 20 and learned how to steal cars there. After being released from prison, the thief devised a calculated plan to steal passenger cars. By searching the Divar website, he identified car dealers who had posted ads, mainly in the southeastern area of ​​Tehran, and after contacting them, he introduced himself as the buyer and made an appointment to view the car. The robbery scenario began when the salesman got behind the wheel to test drive the car and the suspect got into the passenger seat. In the middle of the journey, the thief would suddenly use an asthma spray and, by pretending to be short of breath, force the salesman to stop the car. Then, when the car owner went to the passenger door to help, the suspect would jump behind the wheel, press the gas pedal, and flee the scene in the car. This tactic was repeated in several robberies until finally, detectives from the 6th Tehran Police Station, through intelligence and police measures, succeeded in identifying and arresting the suspect.
