Max Eisenbud - Super Agent & IMG Future Stars [Ep. 148]

Today I chat with Max Eisenbud, he is a super-agent for IMG. As soon as Max knew you could become a sports agent without being a lawyer, it became his main goal. He had the chance to work and be friends with Mark McCormack who is the founder of IMG. Max started working for IMG in Florida and met this 11-year-old Russian little girl called Maria Sharapova. He helped her family with little things but quickly developed a great relationship with Maria’s dad. Max became Maria’s agent and worked with her since then, he went through all the titles especially her first Wimbledon win at only 17 years old. He also worked with Li Na and is working at the moment with Emma Raducanu. Max explain to us the importance of scouting and helping junior players at a very young age because the competition with other agencies is really hard. Therefore, IMG decided to organise their own event; The IMG Future Stars. A one-week tournament/event that took place in the Tatoï Club near Athens, Greece. This competition regroups the best junior players under the age of 12, but it’s not all about tennis. Throughout the week, the players, their parents, and coaches will have access to great conferences and networking sessions to help them in their transition toward a more professional structure. Finally, Max gives us some advice on life and how important it is for young players to maintain good relationships with their parents on and off the court. As well as the importance of playing your best tennis even if you lose it will pay in the long term. As Max said, winning in juniors doesn’t mean much.
