Fire Emblem: Three Houses Crimson Flower 100% Growths LTC Aux battle - Chapter 2
After this segment, we're already a third of the way through the run TC-wise! We get 3 battalions this month. We generally want our important units to be equipping battalions as much as possible to steadily work on their authority rank, and also because battalions are free boosts to combat parameters, and give us access to gambits. We will end up allotting one to Ferdinand this month to help him reach D Authority in time for a certain turn in Chapter 2 so he can use Rally Dexterity. Early on, our initial objectives are to get Edelgard to D bows for Curved Shot and Bernadetta to C+ bows by Chapter 3 to learn Deadeye(picking up Close Counter at C along the way). Ferdinand will want to get to B Heavy Armor, and you'll see in Chapter 2 that he has Seal Speed, which normally requires 12 instructs (or at least 3 instruction sessions to reach). The way we unlocked his Budding Talent in 2 weeks is to use what I will call the "Bad Trick" - while in a week's instruction you can only get one extra instruct from a Perfect, there is no such limit on Bads. However, Bads are only possible when an instruction session begins with 50% motivation or less, and each Bad raises the perceived "start motivation" of the session by 25% so we can't just get infinite Bads in one go. What we do is we first get Ferdinand 4 Perfects starting from a full gauge, then back out(ending the lecture point), then start a new session starting from 25%, which lets him get 2 Bads before he gets his final perfect for a total of 7 instructs. We time his C support to happen between the 2 weeks, which lets him get 5 Instructs during the second week to unlock his Budding Talent, which also lets him get more weapon EXP from group tasks. With this, he just barely manages to reach both D Auth in time for ch2 turn 5 and B Armor for Smite by chapter 4. Since we have 2 instruction sessions but only one Explore, we need to exploit all our motivation refill opportunities. In week 1 we instruct Bernadetta and Ferdinand does the Bad Trick outlined above. We rig Linhardt to ask a lecture question to fill his gauge. Bernadetta and Ferdinand activate their C supports during the week, and so we can tutor Bernadetta, Ferdinand, Linhardt and Edelgard during week 2. Seteth's seminar is the best one, and we get Edelgard, Ferdinand, Dorothea, Bernadetta and Petra to attend. We hit professor level D during this month. Timestamps 0:00 - Aux battle(3 turns) This is the mandatory auxiliary battle in Chapter 2, where we need to rout it. The actual EXP from the map is relatively small because aux battle enemies have much lower levels compared to ones in named battles, which is part of why they're mostly not worth it. We use this one to get just a little bit more EXP on Bernadetta, Edelgard and Byleth, and also to start leveling up Jeralt's Mercenaries. Jeralt's Mercs is basically the Jagen of the LTC, as the one battalion that gives crit that we will have access to for quite a while. We need it to be at least level 3 by the last turn of Chapter 2, and getting it to level 4 actually helps streamline that clear a bit. I do put some effort into grinding down some battalions in this run, but I don't think I ever ended up needing a unit to use Battalion Wrath to pull crit or Battalion Vantage to go first, so you can disregard the battalion durability management. 4:06 - Chapter 2(7 turns) The longest clear of the run by a mile, mostly because we haven't obtained any of our mobility enhancement tools yet. It's a kill boss, and we need Edelgard or a student to move their full move every single turn to get into Kostas' range on turn 7(Edelgard can afford to lose one square, which lets her benefit from Byleth's personal skill for most of the map). Kostas is also an introduction to the "skill shot" of 3H rigged LTC - tempting enemies with offensive gambits to attack, and hence be countered rather than using their gambit, which can't be countered. Usually this requires the enemy to see a one-shot kill with decent accuracy and double the player unit, but Kostas will throw us a bone and just doubling his target for a kill is enough to get him to want to attack. Some of the enemies are accurate enough that we can't dodge them, so Edelgard actually has to chug Vulneraries to refill her HP. She uses the Steel axe to weigh herself down for Kostas, and thanks to the Rally Dex is able to crit the fighter on T5 EP (she might have needed gauntlets otherwise). We give her Jeralt's mercenaries for the bosskill, with the Kostas kill benchmark being 25 physical attack and 17 crit. Everybody else's job is ultimately to keep Edelgard's path clear, with kills being fed to Byleth, Bernadetta and Linhardt along the way. We can just about grab the Large Bullion in time with Dorothea, and we also get in some chip EXP with Petra. Hubert wanted to get to D Magic to learn Rally Magic to help Linhardt out.
