Mumbai Local Trains to Get an Upgrade Soon || मुंबई लोकल ट्रेनों में जल्द ही सुधार किया जाएगा

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that Mumbai’s suburban railway network will soon receive newly designed trains aimed at improving passenger comfort and reducing overcrowding. These trains will feature better acceleration, ventilation, and suspension systems to enhance the commuting experience. The time gap between two moving local trains will be reduced from 180 seconds to 150 seconds, with an eventual goal of 120 seconds to decrease congestion and increase train frequency during peak hours. Railway projects worth ₹16,400 crore are currently underway for the Central and Western Railway in Mumbai as part of a broader effort to upgrade the local train system. Around 300 additional local train services will be introduced in phases, bringing the total to approximately 3,300 services per day. To support these additional services, 300 kilometers of new tracks will be laid across the city. The Union Budget 2025-26 has allocated ₹23,778 crore for railways in Maharashtra, covering new projects and infrastructure enhancements in Mumbai.
