Additionally, track congestion due to long-distance express and freight trains, along with the division of railway zones (Mumbai under Central Railway's Mumbai Division and Pune under Pune Division), prevents a seamless suburban connection. Unlike short-distance Mumbai locals, this journey would take 3-4 hours, making express trains like Deccan Queen, Intercity Express, and Pragati Express more efficient options. While some MEMU trains and passenger services exist, frequent local train operations remain unfeasible.
