When I was just one year old, a tragic illness left my mother paralyzed, and my father abandoned us shortly after. To survive, I was sent to the SOS Children's Village, where the profound kindness of foreign sponsors gave me a chance at life, medical care, and education. Now, living in a small, cramped apartment in the city, I work hard every single day to provide for my wife, my little daughter Susan, and to send money back to my mother in the countryside. I promised myself to break the dark cycle of my past—choosing a life completely free of alcohol to be the best father and husband I can possibly be.
