Briefly about the museum On May 14, 1993, Prague Mayor Jan Koukal ceremoniously opened the Museum of Public Transport in Prague, which is located in the historic building of the tram depot in Prague - Střešovice. The carriage house itself was declared a technical monument in 1991. It was built in 1909 and is a typical example of the purpose-built transport buildings of the Electric Companies of the Capital City of Prague from the beginnings of Prague's public transport. It served its purpose - the storage and maintenance of tram vehicles until 1992, when its adaptation into a museum began. On July 21, 1998, the set of 50 historic public transport vehicles and 34 other collection items in the Museum was declared a cultural monument by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. In addition to its own vehicles and objects, the Museum also exhibits exhibits from the National Technical Museum on long-term loan. However, Střešovická vozovná is not just a museum. Some operating sets of historical trams are also transported from one of its halls - however, they are not museum exhibits. Circular lines 42 and 43 depart from here on their route, as well as cars for ordering by domestic and foreign customers.
