He is making vintage inspired guitars, but not the vintage you are thinking of. Sure he loves old Martins and Gibsons like all guitar geeks do, but this luthier derives his inspiration from old department store type guitars... think old delta blues guitar players... yep those guitars... This luthiers name is Todd Cambio. Now you might be thinking, "That name doesn't ring a bell." But let me ask you this, does the name Fraulini Guitars ring a bell? I ask because Todd Cambio is behind Fraulini Guitars. Todd has been a musician for a large portion of his life. He's busked on the streets of Chicago, played with a handful of the old time blues players, and he, of course, demos his guitars on Youtube. ToneRite I reached out to the folks at ToneRite, specifically G, and I want to thank him because he sent a couple of ToneRites for me to try. I proceeded to put the ToneRite through its paces and I think you'll find my experience to be an interesting one. The Tonerite is a small plastic square that sits on the strings of your guitar, right above the bridge, and there's a little rotary dial that adjusts the frequency of the vibration. For such a simple small device the results I got were absolutely huge. I gotta be honest; I am pretty blown away by the transformation that the Tonerite caused on my guitars. Here's how I experimented with the Tonerite. I set up my custom Martin maple OM with the Tonerite and then I also set up my Thompson Dreadnought with the device, and I let them run for about a week and a half. I just let them run mostly uninterrupted here at the studio. After that week and a half I went ahead and pulled the ToneRite off, and I was pretty pleased with the results. John Paul White John Paul White is the songwriter who gets the spotlight today. You may have not heard of him before, but it is quite possible you have heard him perform because John was part of the powerhouse duo the Civil Wars where harmonies were as regular as the sun rising in the East. You might think how on earth could John's solo stuff be nearly as good as what the Civil Wars were putting out, and you would be right to think this because John's solo albums are not the Civil Wars. His albums are 100% John Paul White from the writing to the playing and in my opinion that is absolutely outstanding. 5 Guitar Case No-No's Guitar cases are in fact guitar-saving and protecting devices. They help protect our guitars from knocks and bruises, dings and all sorts of things like that, but our guitar cases can actually cause damage to our guitars as well... Now this isn't a connection you would normally make and due to that fact I'm going to share with you five things to NOT do with your guitar case because, as a guitar geek, I care about the wellbeing of your guitar, and as guitar geeks, collectively we should all care about the wellbeing of everybody's guitars. Tip #5 - If You Have Time To Lean You Have Time To Clean Tip #4 Guitar Cases Do Not Have Super Human Powers Tip #3 The Courteous Latch Key Kid Tip #2 Guitar Case = Sun Sponge Tip #1 Your Case Is Not A Mobile String Changing Station That's a wrap for guitar case 101 I hope this helps you on your guitar journey and keeps your guitar healthy, happy, and ding free.
