Unutulan kelimelerin izinde: 21. yüzyılda Osmanlı Türkçesiyle yaşamak

İbrahim Etem Aktaş, a student at Marmara University's Faculty of Theology, speaks Ottoman Turkish and strives to raise language awareness through videos he posts on social media. Born in the Netherlands to an expatriate family and originally from Konya, 24-year-old Aktaş aims to remind people of the profound richness of the Turkish language. Aktaş spoke to an Anadolu Agency (AA) reporter about his motivation for raising awareness of language and culture through his use of Ottoman Turkish in daily life. Bringing Ottoman words that have been on the verge of being forgotten to today's youth through his social media posts, Aktaş stated that he aims to pass on the deep meaning and cultural heritage these words carry to new generations. Aktaş emphasized that language is one of the most fundamental elements in a nation's existence, noting that his awareness of the Turkish language has developed since his high school years. "We want to carry the linguistic richness of the period to the present day." Aktaş explained that his interest in Ottoman Turkish began during his university years, saying, "As I read the works of esteemed authors like Nihat Sami Banarlı and Yavuz Bülent Bakiler, an understanding of our language began to develop. As you know, our ancient language experienced a purge. This sensitivity took root in me from that time on." İbrahim Etem Aktaş, who explained that he started Ottoman Turkish classes through a friend's encouragement during his university years, said, "We've moved beyond the first stage, which is reading. But what we're doing isn't a scholarly endeavor. We're students of this language, not teachers. We don't want to replicate the language of the period exactly, but rather, we want to carry the linguistic richness of that period to the present day." Aktaş emphasized that he revived old Turkish words through the vocalization method, explaining that vocalization is one of the best ways to understand and express these words. In this way, they both revive forgotten words and unknowingly create a new form of expression. "As you discover words, you realize what we're missing." Aktaş, who described his interest in ancient Turkish words as an "adventure," said that each new discovery evokes both joy and sadness in him. Aktaş shared the view, "Being a child of this language is a great privilege. But it's also a sorrowful thing. Because as you discover words, you realize what we're missing." Aktaş emphasized that a nation's survival depends on protecting its language, saying, "This language is a legacy passed down to us from our ancestors. It's a value that belongs to us, to our essence." Aktaş expressed his hope that his work on Ottoman Turkish is a meaningful mission and that the content he has prepared will serve as an example for young people and newcomers to ensure the transmission of this language to future generations. He emphasized that these efforts also aim to raise awareness and consciousness about the language. İbrahim Etem Aktaş stated that language is as sacred as the homeland and as precious as the country itself, saying, "There are two fundamental elements that make a nation a nation. These are language and religion. For the Turkish nation, in particular, these two concepts are inseparable. Therefore, protecting our language and keeping it alive is a fundamental duty for a Turkish youth." #osmanlıca FOLLOW ANADOLU AGENCY ON SOCIAL MEDIA: Website: https://www.aa.com.tr NSocial: https://sosyal.teknofest.app/@anadolu...
