円通院は、宮城県宮城郡松島町にある臨済宗妙心寺派の寺院。 ⽇本三景松島に所在し、国宝瑞巌寺に隣接しています。 円通院は、正保4年（1647年）に19歳で早世した伊達政宗の孫の伊達光宗の霊廟として、瑞巌寺第100世洞⽔和尚により開⼭されました。 境内の庭は、雲外天地の庭、遠州の庭、⻄洋の庭、三慧殿禅林瞑想の庭で構成。 四季折々の美しく趣ある姿で訪れる人を癒してくれます。 また、伊達家家臣の支倉常長がヨーロッパより持ち帰ったバラをテーマにした「⽩華峰⻄洋の庭」と名付けられた禅寺としては珍しいバラ園があります。 ピーク時には100種以上の色とりどりのバラを鑑賞できるバラ寺としても知られています。 様々な表情を持つ庭園が円通院最大の魅力。 秋には紅葉ライトアップがされた幻想的な世界を求めて多くの人が訪れています。 日本三景松島にお越しの際は、是非、絵画のように美しい境内庭園を訪れて頂きたい。 臨済宗妙心寺派／重要文化財／ 宮城県宮城郡松島町 ____________________________________________________ Entsuin temple is a temple of the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect, located in Matsushima-cho, Miyagi-gun, Miyagi Prefecture. Entsuin temple was founded in 1647 by the 100th monk Dosui of Zuiganji as the mausoleum of Date Mitsumune, grandson of Date Masamune, who died prematurely at the age of 19. The garden on the temple grounds consists of the Ungai Tenchi Garden, Enshu Garden, Western Garden and Sankeiden Zen Forest Meditation Garden.
