Pociągiem retro do Jabłowa i w Bory Tucholskie ! TURKOL ST44-1228 SU42-510

April 12, 2026 | Is there anything better for a train enthusiast than a weekend aboard an old train, in the window of an olive-colored carriage, on a disused railway line, surrounded by beautiful natural surroundings, inhaling diesel fumes and listening to the classic sounds of a locomotive engine? 😉 A rhetorical question, of course, but that's exactly what you could experience by boarding the special train 'WIOSNA (SPRING) 2026,' organized by TURKOL, which spent three days traversing the disused, underused, and interesting railway lines of Kuyavia and Pomerania in early April. A report from the first two days, from spots along and above the railtracks, has already been posted here:    • Starym pociągiem po Kujawach i Pomorzu! TU...   Now it's time for an on-board report from the final day. 😉 And on the final day, the special train, which had been hauled by an SU42-510 locomotive for the previous two days, was joined by none other than the green 'Sergei' ST44-1228. In its glow (or rather, its diesel exhaust 😉), you could explore the interesting railway routes of Pomerania with your window open. But here's the rundown: The train departed from Gdynia Glowna in the morning and, having reached Gdansk Glowny, changed direction, entering a line unused for passenger service to Gdansk Zaspa Towarowa freight station. From there, it headed 'the other way' to an even larger, hidden corner of Gdansk's freight lines, the area around Gdansk Wislany station. After returning to Gdansk Zaspa Towarowa, passing the former SKM Gdansk Kolonia stop, it returned to Gdansk Glowny, and from there, at full power, headed south, intending to join line 203, the Ostbahn. To accomplish this, it passed through the Zajaczkowo Tczewskie freight yard (formerly a marshalling yard) and, via the Malinowo connecting rail line, connected to the aforementioned Ostbahn. It traversed further kilometers of forest and field rail trails until it finally reached Starogard Gdanski, where (at least for me personally) a truly fascinating railway adventure began: joining the disused and partially dismantled line 243 to Skorcz! Departing Starogard (first having to shunt to a different track, as seen in the film), it departed for the former Starogard Gdanski Przedmiescie station. The sight of a train (of any kind) there is incredibly unusual, so the crossings had to be 'covered' and traffic stopped, as seen in the video. The special train reached the grain elevator in Jablowo, where a crowd of interested enthusiasts and locals awaited it. 😉 After returning to Starogard, it continued its journey on the 'Ostbahn' to Czersk, where it traveled on line 215 to Bak. The sight of two shunting diesel locomotives with olive-colored carriages in the beautiful scenery of the Bory Tucholskie forest will surely be a lasting memory. 😉 Where the old railway still stands, and ancient mechanical semaphores guard the route in a beautiful, forested wilderness far from civilization, one could feel like the 1980s and 1990s, when transfers at this forest station were commonplace and passengers even had time to pick mushrooms before the next train. But back: the train continued on to Lipowa Tucholska, where it circled to the nearby Szlachta station, before returning to Lipowa in a trail of diesel fumes. From there, it set off with a bang and, with the full force of the 'Sergei', headed south to Wierzchucin. The sight of such a train at these stations also brought back childhood memories, not only for the filmmaker... 😉 From Wierzchucin, via Serock, it then headed to Bydgoszcz Glowna, where it finished its ride and also terminated the beautiful three-day marathon on the Pomeranian-Kuyavian tracks.
